Several teachers in the Mason area, experienced in outdoor, Outward Bound-type schools and programs, are designing and adventure-based, outdoor-oriented school, primarily for older students. High academic standards would be present but the style of the school would be unique.

A charter application has not yet been developed and submitted. The group would be interested in hearing from others with similar interests for an action-oriented program that builds self-esteem and involves exploratory ventures outdoors.

This group is active as of June 2005.

Kearsarge Planning Grant:

In 2004, the Kearsarge School District advanced a proposal to look at feasibility of a charter high school, most likely serving students interested in an alternative-type high school. The district intended that when the community approved a new middle school facility, the former facility might locate the charter high school.

For more information, contact the Superintendent of Schools, Kearsarge School District, New London.
